France wants to cooperate with Italy on migrants!
The French Foreign Minister, Catherine Colonna has said her country is seeking cooperation with Italy on the issue of migrants.
ANSA reports that the minister said this after recent tensions over migrants. She promised she will visit Italy on Thursday.
The tension began when French Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin said Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was incapable of solving the migrant problems. In return, the Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister of Italy, Antonio Tajani cancelled a trip to Paris to see Colonna.
Meloni had campaigned on the issue of solving migrant problems.
The secretary general of French President Emmanuel Macron, Stephane Sejourne then said Meloni does lots of “rabble-rousing” on irregular immigration and followed it up by saying her policies were unjust and ineffective.
However, both the Italian Premier and the French President met on Saturday at the G7 summit in Japan where they resolved the issue.
