Train up a Child by Rev (Dr) Adesanu Abiodun

By Rev (Dr) Adesanu Abiodun,
I believe with all my heart that children respond to discipline. They respond to structure. The Bible says it. The Bible teaches it. The Bible preaches it. If it says in God’s Word that it is my job to train – which includes discipline and structure and setting the rules and then keeping the rules, — that is my job before God. A child will respond to it because the Bible says they will.
I believe if you do what the Bible says and train up a child according to the Word of God, when he’s old he will not depart from it. But if you’re going to relinquish your responsibilities, then when you are thirty, forty, or fifty years old and your child starts going astray, don’t look at yourself in the mirror and say, “What did I do wrong? Where did it all fall apart?”
Stand firm on the Word of God. Trust God. Believe God and say, “In the name of Jesus, I’m going to do it according to the Word of God.” God will honour it according to that child.
Pray with me now:
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I pray that as parents we will have enough courage according to the Word of God to lift up the standard of the Bible and not be afraid to do what is right. Father God, as a parent, I pray that You will give us the courage and the wisdom and the mind of Christ to do what is right according to training up a child the way the Bible says. We’ll not be pushed; we’ll not be shoved for what the Bible says. And as we do it, I pray that You would honor us in the form of our children never departing from Your words and Your ways. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
